Eat & Drink: Aunty Kim's Korean Restaurant

My mum had been secretly complaining to me that she haven't been eating out since I was hospitalised. Further more, after I was discharged, I needed to stay home for confinement, thus, she had to cook for me everyday.

So on my first off day after I report back to work, I bought dad and mum out to our favourite Korean restaurant for dinner - Aunty Kim's Korean Restaurant.

Aunty Kim's Korean Restaurant had been here for a long long time. It is located along the stretch of Upper Thomson Road. Usually, it is fully seated at about 7pm. We were here early that day at 6pm, thus, it was still quite empty.

There is only 2 outdoor tables, and the rest are indoors.

All tables are nicely set.

These are complimentary Korean appetisers. The appetisers changes everyday, so we usually have different combinations each time we dine here. Best of all, the appetisers are refillable and super delicious...

This is my favourite. Dduck Pok Ki ($15). That's the Korean hot & spicy rice cake. The sauce is super delicious.

Meat lovers will love this. This is Korean BBQ, Doi Ji Mok-Sal ($22.00). We had the marinated pork shoulder and it was delicious. You can choose to have it cook at your table or by the chefs in the kitchen. Comes with side condiments of lettuces, garlic and sauce on the side. They also have other choices such as beef and chicken too.

Jab Chae ($16.00)
Korean glass noodle stir fried with vegetable. Strong taste of black pepper sauce.

I forgotten the name of this dish. I only remember that the name sounds like the Japanese dish 'Oden', and it is indeed similar to the Japanese Oden. It is a clear soup dish with fish cakes on skewers. Try if you don't take spicy dishes.

Service is good and can be better. We were there early that day and it was not busy, thus, service was attentive. During busy hours, it may be difficult to get attention, especially if you are seating in the partition areas.

There are 2 outlets in Singapore.

Mummy And Baby: Hospital Checklist

It is never too early to prepare your bags for delivery. You wouldn't want to run around the house packing your bag after your water bag burst. It is good to make sure your hospital bag is ready at least 2 weeks before your EDD, or even earlier. And it must be place somewhere where it is easy to access in case of emergency. Make sure your family members, siblings and husband know where the bag is, so in case you really forgot, they can help you to bring over to the hospital. So what should we pack in the bag? I will list them out in 4 different parts. 1. Documentation  For Admission:  1. Mother's IC 2. Admission Form For Baby's Birth Registration 1. Mother's IC 2. Father's IC 3. Marriage Certificate Do check with your hospital for the required documents. 2. Mummy 1. Mobile phone & charger -  Keep your family members updated of your situation. Career Switch @ Age 35

If you have went through this, you will know how I feel.... Career switch at age 35 seems like a risk... I have been in the restaurant line for the longest time already, and I spend the last 11 years in my previous company working hard to achieve who I am today. And poof, it's all gone now!!! What is the reason for this career switch and why? It is all because I AM A MOTHER! For the past year, I realize that I am always tired, I got no time to see my baby at all! She's still sleeping when I go to work, and she would have already fall asleep when I reach home! On my rest day, all I wanted is to sleep as I am so tired. I've grown fatter than before, putting on so much weight, I could only hear my parents telling me Baby Joy starts to crawl, she's calling 'Ah Ma', but I never get to see all her first time! I thought to myself, it's time to change! I need to be there for my girl, be part of her childhood, be there whenever she needs me! And the next thing I know...

Niku Kappo by Watabi

It's been a long time since Mr Wonderful and I have a date. Glad to spend some private time together for dinner without Baby Joy! It was a surprise dinner date (3 weeks ago) as he just SMS me the venue 5 minutes before I off work.  When I reach the restaurant, there was a big crowd outside, waiting for tables. Mr Wonderful got 2 seats at the Sushi Counter which is our favorite whenever we dine at a  Japanese Restaurant.   There's a welcome drink for everybody. Never got to know what drink is that as the servers are always busy. We had a hard time trying to get their attention as everyone is attending to tables. There were a lot of table services such as tossing salad and cooking Sukiyaki by the table side.   My welcome drink   Quite nice, a little minty. The chilli padi looks scary, but you don't taste that at all... Wagyu Toro Sushi $7.90 I am not a fan of raw beef, so I've got nothing much to saw about this. But the beef literally 'melts' in my mouth, so make ...
