Having nothing better to do, I had decided to clean out my closet when I see a pile of Archie Comics in a corner, covered in dust... I flipped one of the comic and started reading it. I know I have read that story before, but my hands just couldn't stop flipping the pages, and after a good 10 minutes, I reach the end of the book.
I'm sure everyone out there knows who is Archie Andrews... He is one of the main character in the comic of Archie's. I've been ready this since secondary school and had continued till about 3 years ago, I stop, after I got to know my husband.
Suddenly, all the memories started coming back to me. The comics reminds me of my secondary school days when I like to hide in the library reading the comic. After I got my first part time job, I started buying the comics and read them when ever I am free. When I got my first full time job, I started sitting at cafes and restaurants, reading the comics during my off days.
I have always been doing that until I meet my husband, and we began hanging out together. And of course, in order to get close to him, I started reading Chinese novels, instead of my beloved Archie Comics, as he is a fan of Taiwanese Authors.
Also with the technology getting better and better each day, I have seldom see people reading books or comics anymore. When you walk into the Mrt, out of 10 persons that you see, at least 1/2 of them owns an ipad, followed by iPhones and the galaxy, and that includes me.
I looked at the comics again, some of them had turn yellowish, as they are more than 10 years old. But the outlook condition was still perfect. My mom saw me flipping the comics and urge me to throw them away. But I just couldn't do it, I'm still reading and flipping the comics as she was nagging me.
There are too many memories attached to the comics, some happy and some sad. They are a part of me when I was a kid, then teenager, young lady, and I hope to continue until I became an old lady.
In the end, I kept them nicely on my book shelf. I suddenly had the urge to run out of the house to buy more comics since I'm staying home doing nothing...
If anyone of you knows where I can find old Archie Comics pls let me know. I'm looking for the older versions rather than the new ones....
Do you have anything that is worth keeping?
