SET Contemporary Cuisine

I was searching for a place for a nice dinner and when I read about SET on The Honeycombers, I decided to give them a try!

SET just open their doors in August, sharing the same concept as their sister, Tao's.
I'm been to Tao's once, like, 5-6 years ago, never really went back after that as I'm not really attracted to the food. At that time, I don't understand why they are only serving sets and no ala carte, but this time at SET, I finally understand their concept.

SET is located on the second level of POMO. Just go up the escalator and turn right.

Nice, quiet ambiance, great for a romantic dinner...

Look at the settings....
Tip: Remember, use the cutleries from the outside, moving in.
The biggest fork & knife is for the main course...
Mr Wonderful & I decided to order everything different from each other, so that we can try each other's dishes.

Start with a drink...
We had the Banana & Blue Curaçao Soda...
A nice & refreshing start of our meal...

Chef Starter: Bacon and Mushroom Gratin with Homemade Toast
A complimentary appetizer....
Delicious...

(Me) Appetizer: Roasted Duck Breast Salad

Served with a homemade citrus dressing...
The dressing is so appetizing and delicious! Goes really well with the duck breast!

(Mr. Wonderful) Appetizer: Salmon Garviax

It's actually smoked salmon slice served with a herb infused Olive oil dressing...

(Mr. Wonderful) Soup: Mushroom Velouté with Peanut Butter
Full of chunky mushrooms in every bite...
You'll be surprise with the amazing taste of the soup when you add the peanut butter in!

(Me) Soup: Miso Soup with Sake
Very interesting presentation to served the miso soup in a sake bottle and drink from a cup....
Doesn't really taste the sake but the soup is good....

Side Dish: Grilled King Oyster Mushroom
Only available if you order the 6 course dinner.
Really enjoy this dish, especially the truffle foam that comes with it...

(Mr. Wonderful) Main Course: Roast Chicken Pullet
It is a ball of cabbage & mushrooms wrapped with chicken meat.

(Me) Main Course: Roasted Beef Tenderloin

I love beef and they're really done well at Set!

(Me) Dessert: Poached Pear with Gelato
By the time the dessert came, I'm already too full to finish it!

(Mr. Wonderful) Dessert: Huai San Jello

Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience. The ambience was good, with comfortable seating. Tables are not so close to each other, thus, you can really have some private moment. The servers are attentive, clearing the soiled dishes promptly, as soon as we finished each course.

The damage?
5 course SET Lunch @ $28.80++
6 course SET Dinner @ $38.80++

Now the next question, have you ever wonder why are there only Sets, and no ala carte?
I'm very honour to be served by Mr Vincent, the GM, during my dinner, and had a nice chat with him, understanding more about their concept.
In order to ensure that all items are made with the freshest ingredients, SET do not offer ala carte in their menu. When you have different ala carte in the menu, there is sure to have certain items not order for some time, thus, the ingredients use may be a few days old when you ordered. Having only set ensures that all items can be sold everyday, thus, ingredients used is also fresh.

Currently, SET do not have a standard menu yet. They are still serving their tasting menu, getting feedback from their customers. I'm looking forward to dine with them again in the near future, hopefully, they have their menu ready.

Check out SET for more information.

It's been a long time since Mr Wonderful and I have a date. Glad to spend some private time together for dinner without Baby Joy! It was a surprise dinner date (3 weeks ago) as he just SMS me the venue 5 minutes before I off work.  When I reach the restaurant, there was a big crowd outside, waiting for tables. Mr Wonderful got 2 seats at the Sushi Counter which is our favorite whenever we dine at a  Japanese Restaurant.   There's a welcome drink for everybody. Never got to know what drink is that as the servers are always busy. We had a hard time trying to get their attention as everyone is attending to tables. There were a lot of table services such as tossing salad and cooking Sukiyaki by the table side.   My welcome drink   Quite nice, a little minty. The chilli padi looks scary, but you don't taste that at all... Wagyu Toro Sushi $7.90 I am not a fan of raw beef, so I've got nothing much to saw about this. But the beef literally 'melts' in my mouth, so make

Bye, 2013... Hello, 2014.... & Mini Giveaway

After all the celebration and parties to celebrate Christmas, so 2013 is coming to an end. Looking back into 2013, I've got a fair share of the good and bad...  Now that 2014 is arriving, it's time to plan for the future.... Yes! I plan that in 2013, but things are not going smoothly for me then.  But I'm gonna do that again in 2014, and the first thing I'm gonna do is.... To be pregnant again... Yes, that's my number one plan for 2014. I'm not young anymore, and I really do look forward to have a child of my own. I lost my child in 2013, and I'm not gonna let that happen again this time. I'm gonna take good care of myself this time and give birth to a healthy baby. Secondly, Mr Wonderful and I had gave up choosing a bto unit this year. It is because they are left with only second storey units, while we prefer a higher storey one. Hopefully, this year, we are able to to book a unit. Next, I hope I can have more time
